Industry engagement and coalitions
Businesses seeking a common industry position may agree on the problem while differing on the remedy. SCA helps participants establish the shared interest, agree how they will work together and prepare a position they can each support.
Agreement among participants
The first discussion identifies the proposed participants, the decision they want to influence and the differences that could prevent a common position. The commissioning organisation supplies the relevant policy or proposal, existing analysis and the authority under which participants will take part.
Before public engagement begins, the group needs a way to approve its position, resolve disagreement and authorise someone to speak. Where competitors are involved, participants should obtain appropriate advice on the permitted scope of discussion and information sharing.
A defined piece of work
SCA can prepare meeting material, facilitate discussions and draft a common submission or briefing. The output can also include participation arrangements, a decision record and an engagement plan showing who will approach which audience.
The written scope and quote identify the participants, meetings, documents, approval process and timing. Participation in the work does not imply that every member agrees with every position; the final material must describe the agreement accurately.
The service sits within industry engagement and coalitions.
